About Us

Bras and Mattos Monument Company in Hayward, CA has provided Bay Area Cemeteries and surrounding areas with personalized memorial design and services since 1897.

We have worked with tens of thousands of families, civic leaders and organizations from all over the world. We design custom pieces of commemorative art to help families honour, remember and celebrate the lives of their loved ones.

As a 5th generation family owned and operated business we understand how important it is to honour and remember our heritage.

We carve on only the highest quality granite, ensuring the gravestone you purchase will remain beautiful for generations to come.

Our Process

After we discuss your needs and ideas, we will create either a hand-drawn sketch and/or a computer-aided digital rendering.

We create drawings for approval on every memorial we make prior to the stone being carved. This process is very important and allows you to preview and even participate in the design process before we begin production.

Everyone has a unique story that deserves to be remembered. Our experience has taught us that the more families are able to participate in the design process the more they are able to appreciate the memorial when it is completed.

When everyone in America is feeling uncertain and down, I hit the jack pot. Losing a loved one is the most unimaginable thing ever and I knew NOTHING would make things better. I was right. However, I left Bras & Mattos Monuments feeling like I “had a friend” I was going through this with. I felt like my family was in good hands. We designed a memorial that I was proud of. I am not sure what I would have done without this group of people. They navigated me through the process while making me feel like I was a part of their family. I am so grateful to have stumbled upon Bras & Mattos. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Hello, I went to Rolling Hills Feb 28th but Rolling Hills had not laid the headstone, but the following week I returned to see my son’s headstone and it is beautiful. Thanks for doing a great job. I will see you all real soon because I paid for my grave site and want you to create my headstone. Thanks again for such good service and this is my third time using your services.

I was in Tracy yesterday and noticed that you put the family name on the back of my mother’s tombstone. I just wanted to say THANK YOU for following up on that detail and making this stone an absolutely perfect way to honor my mother!! Thanks again and hope you are well!
