Barb Phillips

Barb was a wonderful addition to the team of people involved in my mother’s end of living support and planning. She is warm, empathetic and highly sensitive to individual wishes and concerns. Barb was a big support to me in the planning and creation of the “ceremony” by the graveside and did a brilliant job of putting it all together. I had numerous comments from friends and family on what a lovely ceremony it was.

Barb supported me after my husband’s death in two ways. The first contribution was in crafting with me, all that was needed to provide a memorial service of thanksgiving and remembrance for family and friends after my husband’s cremation. Barb brought thoughtful and meaningful readings, spiritual connections and engaging rituals to the gathering. Ten months later I asked Barb to guide me through yet another element, the ceremony to accompany the interment of my husband’s ashes in the mausoleum situated in the cemetery memorial garden.
The flow of both ceremonies Barb conducted for me were peaceful, focused, and totally reflected my wishes. Barb is sensitive, caring, a very good listener and very successfully created memorable events during very difficult times, honouring all that was important for the family. Barb’s words often underlined the beauty of this sacred journey and her guidance allowed us to engage in this rite of passage in such a meaningful way.
I recommend her with total confidence, knowing that through her passion for this work, she will always take the time needed to get all the meaningful information needed to honour the situation for which she is asked to be a Celebrant.

Words cannot describe the care and kindnesses Barbara provided to myself and love ones throughout this difficult journey. My son Keegan would have definitely approved of what was offered as a personal reenactment of his short life story. Barbara took the time to get to know all of us and understand who Keegan was in person and in spirit. As he was only 20 years old when he died, Barbara had a challenge to understand the lingo and the depth of a young persons feelings and creativity. She met this with grace an a deep respect to and for my son. Barbara was able to capture Keegan’s essence with every word she spoke of him. I appreciate all the time, care and detail Barbara spent to write and speak to the person Keegan was and his legacy. Many truths and wisdom about life and death were taught to me by her words. I will forever cherish these words and remember them as I learn to cope with my new life that has been forever changed by my son’s death.
