Adriane Weller worked with us as an End of Life Doula through the first few difficult months after my husband passed away. Her warmth and gentleness helped us to feel at ease with her right from the beginning.

Following my husband’s death, Adriane’s knowledge and expertise brought relief and enabled us to complete the many legal and financial forms quickly. When we weren’t sure about something she knew who to call to get it resolved with minimum stress. Given my addled brain at the time this was a huge help.

I also appreciated her wisdom about the process of grieving and her careful attention to my ideas, which she would reflect back in a note following our time together.

In summary she brought light and support into some dark and numbing days. I would recommend her highly.

Adriane, I can’t thank you enough for how amazing you have been throughout this process and especially for the beautiful ceremony you gave for my dad.  You spoke as if you knew and loved him too.  Many people commented the same to me and stated they would recommend you anytime.  You made such a tough process be as easy as possible for me.  Thank you for your warmth and support during such a hard time.

I picked up the Fall 2019 issue of Silver Links and read with interest your article on Green Burials. I was intrigued by the concept. As a person that tries to make eco-friendly choices, recycles, and cares about the earth, it resonated with me. After reading, I shared the article with my husband and he agreed it sounded very interesting. We planned on looking into it but then Covid hit but I kept the article. Unfortunately my husband passed away suddenly before we had pursued it. When my family and I were making decisions, our choice was simple. Although we are all saddened by our loss, we truly feel good about choosing a green burial. We have become very strong advocates and share this choice with friends because had I not read your article, I would not have ever known about this option. It feels as if I could write every cliche in the book about how incredible you have been throughout my journey with K’s death … they would all hold true. Thank you isn’t big enough. Thank you fails to cover how my heart had many healing moments knowing that I was able to accomplish all of K’s wishes. My heart’s healing moments were because of you Adriane, you are truly beautiful in your work, in your kindness and especially in your heart. Thank you.

Adriane brought grace, calm and all the information we needed in order to give K the green burial he wished. His death was unexpected, nothing had been prepared. Yet we knew he had several key wishes. To fulfill these wishes required learning and deciding much, all at once. Friends connected us with Adriane. Generously and gently she helped us in so many ways over the next few days – by phone and email. She made it easy to understand our options, to connect with the people and services necessary to provide the burial we sought, and to ensure that all the procedural details were in place. She was key to our success. The value of that gift, and the peace and consolation it gives us, cannot be overestimated. Thank-you so much, Adriane, for your unstinting generosity and expertise. You were invaluable. It made such a difference. Without your help there is no way we could have given K the burial he wanted.

Thank you so much! I need to tell you that as SOON as you walked out the door Mom asked if you’d be coming back again. She loved you and was very relaxed and comfortable and less anxious with you there. Thanks again, so much, for being there for us today when we really needed you.

Throughout these sad and poignant circumstances, you fearlessly and consistently offered notable love, kindness, patience, and support to alleviate our grief. It was miraculous that you were with us when K passed. Your suggestions and meaningful ways to cope with our final hours with K are frequently replayed in our hearts and minds and have brought great comfort.

Throughout the planning of K’s Celebration of Life, you kept us organized, made many connections, and arranged abundant details.  You provided considerable counsel and guidance to help us understand the technicalities of the funeral world. You provided us with strength, and hosted the Celebration with immense creativity and compassion. In short, you helped us create a truly unique end of life ceremony that K would have enjoyed immensely. Thank you for helping us to bring forth and honour K’s personality, values and life.

The celebration of K’s life was the best I have ever attended. Thank you so much for all you did, for your guiding hand throughout and for helping our family through this very tough time.

What a wonderful celebration of K’s life!  You led the service so beautifully, with well spoken and chosen words and stories, meaningful symbolism and a calmness that permeated the room.  My son said he wished that you had been the Celebrant at the celebration of his father’s life and I was thinking the same thing. You have found your calling!  May you have more opportunities to help other families who want a meaningful celebration of life for their loved one.

I just wanted to say how wonderful it was to be part of the celebration of V’s life.  The service was powerful and through your wisdom and guidance, and Pastor Derek’s comforting words, I revisited the most important things about life: love, forgiveness, healing and being present.  I found the day very moving and it caused me to look a little deeper into my own humanity.  Thank you.
