About Acacia Cemetery

Acacia Park Cemetery was founded in 1928 as a not-for-profit membership association by a group of local citizens lead by Adolph Richard Hansen, who served as board member and president for 60 years.

The group recognized the need for a cemetery outside the city of Buffalo in the growing Niagara County area. The 218-acre site, adjacent to the meandering North Tonawanda Creek, encourages people to walk the grounds, admire the funerary art and commune with nature.

Resthaven Gardens within the cemetery, was founded to facilitate the strong, fraternal Masonic community in the area. Features in the gardens area were designed to honor Masonic families, their values, members and heroes, including America's founding President George Washington, a Mason.

A Corinthian Column, which weighs more than 40 tons and rises 50-feet high, is topped by a globe representing the universality of Masonry. Today, the gardens area is open to all faiths, as evidenced by our gates at the entrance of the cemetery.

I’ve been visiting this cemetery for a lot of years. The office people are really great when helping me or my family with our concerns. The grounds crew are very helpful and friendly also. I’ve seen a lot of things over the years some good and some bad but you learn to except it as work in progress. It all takes time.

It Looks Amazing

My family is buried at Acacia Park and sometimes the flat stones have a tendency to sink. All you have to do is go to the office and ask for a raise and level and they will send someone out to complete it. My Aunt visited the graves and was very happy with the grounds graces and their appearance. My wife and I have a monument to hold outs and her aunts ashes. My wife’s Aunt only had a black and white photo for her cameo. Since my wife and her Aunt are Asian the cemetery staff viewed the similarities to make the black and white photo into color and make it more life like without being asked. It looks amazing! Any problems you may have just go to the front office and they will do their best to fix it.
