About St Kilda Cemetery
St Kilda Cemetery was laid out in 1851 and it was officially opened in 1855. It is one of the oldest suburban cemeteries in Melbourne with the first burial taking place of a young girl Charlotte Green in 1885. The gate lodge was built in about 1857, and the rotundas in 1860. By this time, St Kilda was the preferred suburb of wealthy residents and there were three unsuccessful attempts by local landowners to have the cemetery closed. The external brick wall was built in about 1883. At St Kilda Cemetery we are proud of our historic grounds and the very special areas in which to honour and celebrate life. Our skilled maintenance teams, arborists and horticulturist’s work year round to keep our grounds in pristine condition.
Our Services
St Kilda Cemetery offers a variety of different burial options.
Burial Options
Monumental Graves are usually divided to designate religion or nationality and provide for a full monument to be placed on the grave, covering the entire grave area.
Cremation Memorial Options
A beautiful Garden Setting location can be established for those who are looking for a ‘living’ botanical memorial. You are able to choose a location within rose, shrub or tree settings.
Set within landscaped gardens, Niche Positions provide totally sealed locations to securely house ashes. Personalised memorial plaques mark each location.
For those who prefer to keep their loved one’s ashes in their safekeeping, we also provide a number of personal cremation memorials options.
Mausolea Options
Crypts are not available at St Kilda Cemetery, we recommend that you contact either Cheltenham Memorial Park, Melbourne General Cemetery, Bunurong Memorial Park or Springvale Botanical Cemetery.
Chapel & Facilities
While St Kilda Cemetery does not house a chapel or function room you have the option of conducting a service at Springvale Botanical Cemetery or Bunurong Memorial Park.
These cemeteries provide the full spectrum of cemetery services, including a crematorium, chapels and on-site function rooms with catering.
So, if you choose a burial or cremation memorial within Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery, we can always assist you by coordinating additional services through Café Vita et flores, our cafe and florist at Bunurong Memorial Park or Springvale Botanical Cemetery.
For more information on chapels, services, functions and facilities, please see Springvale Botanical Cemetery and Bunurong Memorial Park.
About Waverley Cemetery
Waverley and South Head General Cemeteries are a sanctuary where family and friends can come to reflect, honour and pay tribute to their loved ones in a tranquil, calming environment.
We are a place where peace and privacy are cherished and will always be respected. As a guardian of family and community heritage, we are more committed than ever to protecting and celebrating the history of our grounds, our families, and the city of Sydney we call home.
Located close to the centre of Sydney, Waverley and South Head General Cemeteries are one of the oldest continually operating cemeteries in Sydney. We provide a dignified and unique setting in which to commemorate the lives of our family, friends and those who have shaped our city and country.
Just like the day we opened in 1877, today we continue to provide extraordinary service and support to everyone making important decisions about interment, commemoration and remembrance for themselves and their loved ones.
Our 16 hectares offer dramatic beauty all through the year with unique memorial architecture and sculpture all in a comfortable traditional landscape of sandstone hills and valleys.
With a commitment to preserve our landscape’s historic character and a commitment to build our future maintenance funds, Waverley promises responsible planning and management of our grounds, ensuring that the cemetery will keep its charm and character but be cared for.
Our Services
Graves
All of Waverley and South Head General Cemeteries burial plots and memorials are prepared by hand. Coffin interments do take time to arrange and will require at least 3 days notice. The cemetery’s many original monuments are a tribute to our sense of respect for our ancestors, the site’s heritage and the art of monumental masons.
Pre-Arrangements
Pre-purchasing your burial site or interment location allows you to have the allotment or memorial that you want. It also helps relieve the pressure on family and friends at the time of a funeral to make that decision for you.
Pre-purchase burial allocations and memorial garden allotments for ashes at Waverley can be arranged by any Funeral Director across Australia on your behalf. Alternatively, you can contact the cemetery office directly and choose the location personally.
We invite you to contact us for more information.

About Kent and Sussex Crematorium
This tranquil burial ground was opened in October 1873 by the Tunbridge Wells Town Commissioners – forerunners of today’s borough council – to serve local people of all denominations and none.
Situated on a lofty tract of the ancient Frant Forest, its sandstone walls, gate lodges and twin chapels were quarried on the site itself.
Those chapels are today listed as heritage buildings. As the trees and plants matured, the cemetery was described in local guidebooks as one of the most beautiful in England. Over the years many fascinating sculptured memorials erected to commemorate the dead have added to its interest and beauty.
In other parts, increasingly rare wildflowers including orchids continue to flourish and are being cherished today to provide a haven for bees and butterflies.
Working closely with the Council and all who care about this very special last resting place, the Friends of Tunbridge Wells Cemetery are dedicated to conserving and enhancing its environment and heritage features so that they may be enjoyed in perpetuity.
The cemetery remains open for burials, with a public waiting room and toilets close to the chapel for visitor’s use.
Our Services & Facilities
Our fully accessible crematorium chapel can accommodate up to 90. It is a room designed to facilitate funeral services of all faiths and does not display any fixed religious symbols or icons.
Our grounds are maintained to the highest level and we offer both crematorium and cemetery services. We pride ourselves in providing a scenic, tranquil and peaceful environment for both.
Set in 16 acres of tranquil grounds, the crematorium, situated in the heart of Royal Tunbridge Wells, provides the perfect place to commemorate your loved ones.
About Elmwood Cemetery
The grounds of Historic Elmwood Cemetery had been allowed to deteriorate over time. Encouraged by the City of Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba, a small but concerned group of private citizens resolved to bring the Cemetery back to its original dignity and grace.
They shared an intensely personal interest in Elmwood Cemetery – with a father, mother, brother, friend or mentor buried there. They formed a not-for-profit organization, “The Friends of Elmwood Cemetery Incorporated” In 1998, the “Friends” acquired the property from the absentee landowner, took over ownership and created a future vision for Historic Elmwood Cemetery.

About Acacia Cemetery
Acacia Park Cemetery was founded in 1928 as a not-for-profit membership association by a group of local citizens lead by Adolph Richard Hansen, who served as board member and president for 60 years.
The group recognized the need for a cemetery outside the city of Buffalo in the growing Niagara County area. The 218-acre site, adjacent to the meandering North Tonawanda Creek, encourages people to walk the grounds, admire the funerary art and commune with nature.
Resthaven Gardens within the cemetery, was founded to facilitate the strong, fraternal Masonic community in the area. Features in the gardens area were designed to honor Masonic families, their values, members and heroes, including America’s founding President George Washington, a Mason.
A Corinthian Column, which weighs more than 40 tons and rises 50-feet high, is topped by a globe representing the universality of Masonry. Today, the gardens area is open to all faiths, as evidenced by our gates at the entrance of the cemetery.
